Hip Poppy on Sugar Kayne Radio: Talking Flowers, Memories and the Stories Behind Every Bouquet
This weekend, Hip Poppy is heading to the airwaves.
On Sunday between 12–2pm, I’ll be chatting with Richa Kay on Sugar Kayne Radio about flowers, what to buy, what not to buy, and some of the most memorable requests I’ve ever had as a florist.
And honestly, flowers are never just flowers.
They are the things people send when they don’t know what to say. They are the colour in the room when someone is grieving. They are the first thing people hold on their wedding morning. They are the bunch left on a doorstep to say, “I’m thinking of you.” They are the birthday surprise, the apology, the celebration, the goodbye, the “I saw these and thought of you.”
That’s what I love most about floristry. It is not really about stems and ribbons and wrapping. It is about people.
It is about the stories behind the order.
A bouquet can tell someone they are loved. A funeral tribute can honour a lifetime. A wedding bouquet can carry memories, family connections, favourite colours, childhood flowers, or blooms chosen because they remind someone of a person who should have been there.
At Hip Poppy, every design is made with that in mind. Whether it is a joyful hand-tied bouquet, a meaningful sympathy arrangement, wedding flowers, or something completely personal, the heart of the work is always the same: connection.
I’ll also be talking on the show about the practical side of buying flowers — what lasts well, what is worth spending money on, what to avoid, and why choosing a local florist can make such a difference.
Because when you order from a local florist, you are not just buying flowers from a screen. You are buying care, experience, instinct, and someone who understands that the smallest details often matter the most.
I’m really looking forward to joining Richa for a relaxed Sunday chat full of summer vibes, flower talk, and probably a few stories from over the years.
You can listen in on Sunday from 12–2pm on Sugar Kayne Radio.
