A Heartfelt Rose Tribute Created in Loving Memory of Vickie Poulton

Over the past few weeks, we have been creating a great deal of funeral work at Hip Poppy. While it is always sad to hear of someone’s passing, I have a deep appreciation for this part of floristry because of what it represents to the families and friends left behind.
Funeral flowers are far more than arrangements. They are expressions of love, remembrance, and the stories that continue long after someone is gone.
This open heart tribute was created in loving memory of our dear friend, Vickie Poulton.
Vickie was kind, beautifully unique, wonderfully crazy in the best possible way, and one of the funniest people you could ever hope to meet. She had a way of making people laugh, lifting those around her, and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Designed using a vibrant blend of pink roses and spray roses in varying tones, this tribute reflects love, friendship, joy, and the colourful spirit she brought into the lives of others. The open centre of the heart offers a quiet space for reflection, while the abundance of flowers celebrates a life that was full of warmth, humour, and personality.
In the accompanying video, I share a simple truth:
“We’ve had a lot of funeral work lately, sadly. But I love this work because it means so much to those left behind.”
That is why funeral floristry is so meaningful.
At a time when words often feel inadequate, flowers can express love, gratitude, and remembrance in a way that feels both personal and profound.
Creating this tribute for Vickie was especially emotional,
she was a treasured friend. Being entrusted to create flowers in her memory was both an honour and a privilege.
