🌸 So… What Does a Hip Poppy Bouquet Look Like?
That’s actually quite a difficult question to answer — because I don’t think there should be one particular “Hip Poppy look”.
Some florists have a very recognisable colour palette or style, but I’ve always loved having the freedom to create something completely different each time.
These bouquets are a perfect example. One has hot pink gloriosa, orange roses and eucalyptus. Another is overflowing with lilac delphiniums, tiny forget-me-nots and roses in almost every colour. Then there are sunflowers and celosia alongside shocking pink gerberas, and orchids sitting amongst lilies, roses and bright orange blooms.
They shouldn’t necessarily all work together — but somehow they do.
After more than 25 years working with flowers, I think that’s still one of my favourite parts of floristry. You can start with a bench full of completely different stems and, by playing with colour, shape, height and texture, turn them into something that feels like it was always meant to be together.
I don’t want to make the same bouquet twenty times.
I want someone to receive their flowers and feel as though that particular bunch was made just for them — because it was.
That’s probably the closest thing I have to a Hip Poppy signature. 🌿🌸
