This Week’s Flowers in The Blackberry Jack 🌺🍂
Back to school, back to flowers! Each week I create a new arrangement for The Blackberry Jack in St Albans, and this one celebrates the start of autumn with some of my absolute seasonal favourites.
At the heart of the design are the striking Chinese lanterns. Their glowing orange pods add such a playful, fiery touch — like little lanterns lighting the way into autumn. They’re one of my favourite flowers to work with at this time of year, instantly giving any arrangement a warm, seasonal feel.
To balance their brightness, I added deep red dahlias and rich burgundy cymbidium orchids, paired with bold tropical foliage. Together, they create a palette that feels both vibrant and sophisticated — perfect for the cosy, welcoming atmosphere of a pub.
💐 Flowers of the Week:
• Chinese Lanterns – bold, bright, and unmistakably autumn
• Deep Red Dahlia – velvety petals and rich colour
• Burgundy Cymbidium Orchids – exotic depth and drama
• Tropical Foliage – a lush backdrop to frame the colour
These stems also make perfect seasonal hat boxes, bringing the same warmth into homes. And if you love the colourway, I still have a few stems left to share this week.
